CPC Free F’rall 2022
What the Heck Is It ?
The CPC Free F’rall is a casual setting for local collectors, of any age, to show a “Frame” (16 pages)
of your collecting passion with no competition, no judging, no awards, no green beans almondine, and no fees.
It is Free and For All who are not highly experienced philatelic exhibitors.
The Free F’rall will be a rolling exhibition over the two days of the show, so you can put your stuff up in your frame when you get there and take it down when you leave, either on Friday or Saturday, or on both days if you want. This is in addition to our usual competitive exhibition, and the Free F’rall will be limited to 24 Frames total for each day of the show.
There is no charge, it is free for the asking.
You choose what kind of “Participant” you want to be:
“Strut yer Stuff” “Flash yer Stash” “Dress yer Mess”
We will also have a hospitality event Friday Evening from 6pm to 8pm on the show floor. It will be free for you and a guest as well as for our dealers and club members. A relaxed time for collectors of all things interesting to get together and swap fish that got away stories. Great food along with libations ….
Anything - what you strut only needs to be two dimensional ephemera related to communication, history or commerce. That means we want to see all kinds of things in addition to stamps, including postcards, billheads, advertising and trade cards, cinderellas, photographs, exposition souvenirs, travel memorabilia, valentines, you get the idea, pretty much anything cool like that is acceptable.
Anyway - your flash does not need to be an exhibit, just neatly mounted with some identification, explanation and history would be nice. If you want to try to do something more formal you may, but there will be no judging and no awards and no competition. Innovation and humor gratefully appreciated.
Anyhow - Sports, Pokemon and other similar gaming and card gizmos respectfully declined. Entries trying to make social or political statements summarily declined. Sneak something in that pokes any bears and I’ll personally hang a yellow tarp with a fallout shelter symbol over your frame. The Columbus Philatelic Club reserves the right to decline any Frame Reservation Request for any reason whatsoever.
If you are not familiar with them, a “Frame” is an aluminum a-frame on legs with top hinged plexi “windows” secured at the sides and bottom with special screws. A frame holds 16 standard 8 ½ x 11 pages in page protectors, in 4 rows of 4 pages. Entries may be mounted and written up on any kind of paper or card, including album pages of all sorts and paper grocery bags. Larger pages can be used, such as 11x17, as long as they can be arranged to fit within the 4x4 page format.
You may show your entry on Friday or Saturday or both. You may also leave your entry in the frames Friday night if you are returning on Saturday. Please be at the show to put your flash in your frame between 8am and 9am on the day you request. Scheduling a rolling exhibition is new to us, as well.
Participants may make more than one Frame Reservation Request, but they must be for different entries, preferably not too closely related, and not to create a larger multi-frame entry. A Frame Reservation Request must be submitted for each entry. Requests for additional frames will be considered once all First Requests have been accommodated.
